In 2014, Nevada Middle School and High School students worked hard, not only to take photos, but to attract the attention of school administrators to help implement their policy suggestions. The three finalists were Morgan Smith, Harleigh Rapp and Madison Shipley, all of Nevada Middle School. They each won an iPad Mini, courtesy of Healthy Nevada.

More than 20 students and their teachers were honored on April 13, 2012 in Columbia, Mo., as finalists for their work in Photovoice Missouri.

The student who walked away with the top honor for her Photovoice Missouri work was Abigail Todd from Dallas County. Dallas was one of seven counties represented in the project, which also included students from Dent, Lafayette, Mercer, Ralls, and Shelby counties and the City of St. Louis. The finalists’ photos were judged by how well they illustrated the Photovoice method, Healthy Lifestyle Initiative ideals as well as the photograph itself.

During the year-long project more than 70 students participated from the seven communities. Their hard work resulted in over 300 photos with captions being accepted for the project. See the photos: Photovoice Missouri on Flickr.
